Rev. Steve Wamberg
Steve Warnberg was born and raised in Glenwood, Iowa. Licensed to preach at 16, Steve went on the road in the musical evangelism group Good News Circle and became a small part of the early Jesus movement through music, writing, everyday life, and preaching. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Wayne State College, and a Master of Divinity at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Northern Seminary).
Steve met his wife Annie at a Good News Circle School for Evangelism. They dated and were engaged a few years later while Annie was a student at Wheaton College. Once married, they launched a traveling ministry in music, performing arts, and church support. They also became go-to curriculum writers, creatives, editors, and authors for David C. Cook Publishing, Word, and Group, among other publishers.
Steve and Annie were blessed with two children, Ben and Maggie, as they transitioned into employment at Compassion International. Local church ministry became a persistent calling on them, and they prayerfully pursued such opportunities. That led them to take on Steve’s current position as Senior Pastor at Sunset Hills Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. “Together with the remarkable people at 94th and Pacific, we are learning what it means to be responsive Jesus followers across generations and cultures,” Steve remarked. “For us, it is an adventure and Savior worth pursuing – and worth inviting others to join us.”
