Mission and Outreach Ministry
We are to gather together and to reach out as a community of believers. This ministry supports our national and international missionaries by promoting the four major mission offerings of the year. This ministry also plans and encourages mission trips, involvement in ABW and ABM, as well as outreach activities in the local community. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

What’s happening at Sunset Hills?
For the first time since January 2013, Sunset Hills is looking for an administrative assistant in the church office. Denise Lenhart has decided to retire effective in September after 13½ years in the position. Prior to that, she had been a member for many years, so her knowledge of the people, the building and the history has been beyond helpful. Share this part-time job opening with friends and neighbors. We have quite a few group mission opportunities at Sunset Hills, but sometimes individuals can step up or, in this case, lay down. There are severe blood shortages, locally and around the country.
Two organizations have facilities in Omaha that are able to take blood donations. Nebraska Community Blood Bank has two locations at 122nd and Pacific or 132nd and Maple. Its collection serves hospitals in Omaha and throughout Nebraska and western Iowa. The American Red Cross has donation centers at 132nd and West Dodge, 38th and Dewey Avenue and South 80th Avenue just south of West Center Road. Red Cross supplies don’t stay locally and are distributed throughout the country. Both agencies also have remote locations, and can schedule appointments online.
I gave much-needed platelets twice last month (every 7 to 10 days) and will be eligible to donate whole blood later this month (at least 56 days between donations), both at NCBB. It doesn’t take much time, especially considering how low platelets and whole blood supplies are now.

Judah Anaya was elected church treasurer at the business meeting last month. Carla Berry is the bookkeeper and Rebecca Lowell has volunteered to be recording secretary at meetings.
