Mission and Outreach Ministry
We are to gather together and to reach out as a community of believers. This ministry supports our national and international missionaries by promoting the four major mission offerings of the year. This ministry also plans and encourages mission trips, involvement in ABW and ABM, as well as outreach activities in the local community. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

What’s happening at Sunset Hills?
We are well underway for Holy Week. After Sunday’s service of laying palms at the foot of the cross, we will gather again for Maundy Thursday and for Easter Sunday. The Maundy Thursday service starts at 6:30 p.m., and will include music, drama and Communion. On Easter morning, come ready to celebrate the resurrection, with celebratory praise and music, a special time for congregating with your family as well as your church family.
Following the service, we will enjoy the Easter egg hunt. We have hundreds of eggs on hand, filled with candy and coins, and we’re going to need lots of kids to find them all. The early weather forecast calls for a chance for showers, so we’ll have to plan accordingly, but we hope to be outside. Also, after the service, those who bought Easter lilies should take them home.
________
After Sunday’s always good potluck luncheon, the quarterly meeting disclosed good news: income has outdistanced expenses so far this year. That’s not always the case, with giving often catching up at the end of the year. Knowing that, we will be losing some income when The Kingdom Church will move its Sunday afternoon services out of our Fellowship Hall at the end of the month. Also at the meeting, Becki Pike was voted to become the church treasurer.
________
There are two sign-up sheets in the Narthex. One is for the Spring Clean Up on Saturday, April 26, starting at 9 a.m. The sheets show the variety of activities, inside and outside the church building, and also gives you the opportunity to work a project that you can best handle. The second sign-up is for the May 2 Family Gathering. A headcount is needed to know how much food to prepare.
________
Sunday’s worship attendance was over 80, for the first time in quite a while. It may not have looked like it, because some were listening in the kitchen while preparing for the potluck, a few were in the nursery, and some of the security team and the kids were in the Narthex.
I’m old enough to remember the Easter service with more than 200 in attendance. While that’s wishful thinking these days, wouldn’t it be great to top the 100 mark? This is one of the special times to invite others to join us. Make a point of connecting with someone who might enjoy and accept an invitation to attend.
