Mission and Outreach Ministry
We are to gather together and to reach out as a community of believers. This ministry supports our national and international missionaries by promoting the four major mission offerings of the year. This ministry also plans and encourages mission trips, involvement in ABW and ABM, as well as outreach activities in the local community. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

What’s happening at Sunset Hills?
How many times in life do you get to do something once, and only once? That opportunity may come this summer when the American Baptist Churches USA Biennial Mission Summit is held right here in Omaha.
Mark your calendars for July 3-6, based downtown at the CHI Health Center Convention Center and the adjoining Hilton Hotel. The first stage of registration, with reduced fees, ends Friday. Register at Summary - American Baptist Churches USA 2025 Biennial Mission Summit.
The 2025 Biennial Mission Summit centers on the theme “Come Seek Living Water,” designed to engage collaboration and inspire action within local communities. It will be a vibrant “family reunion,” focusing on creating meaningful connections, and will feature engaging workshops and discussions that inspire fellowship and spiritual growth.
Diane Workman and Traci Gilmer will represent Sunset Hills as voting delegates, but attending the summit is open to everyone.
The event opens the afternoon of July 3 with learning sessions and the Exhibit Hall. Friday’s schedule includes an opening afternoon worship service, followed by a family picnic (picnic tickets are limited so don’t wait) and the spectacular downtown Omaha Fourth of July fireworks display. Events continue through the weekend.
